ABOUT US

The EPIC project had the goal to strengthen the capacities of volunteers and family group leaders of the partner organisations and beyond in the fields of intrafamily communication, mediation, conflict resolution, as well as media literacy and media education. All partner organisations that have participated in this project actively accompany and support families. Through strengthened capacities and expertise, the goal of this project was also to increase and improve appropriate support and counselling specifically to families and family-like communities, such as religious communities or others, who are going through difficult times.

The EPIC project has developed two “intellectual outcomes”, which are the product of the work done during the last two years. The first intellectual outcome is this handbook. It was elaborated by experts from Austria, Germany, Slovakia, Slovenia and Switzerland and addresses the topics of intrafamily communication, mediation and conflict resolution in a very practical and hands-on way, including a variety of exercises. The second intellectual outcome is a series of webinars, podcasts and videos that focus on the topics of media literacy and media education. More information on the EPIC project and intellectual outcomes can be found on the website “epicfamily.eu”. The EPIC project also conducted three international trainings, where the approaches and exercises presented in this handbook were applied, tested and improved. Volunteers and family group leaders from all partner countries participated in these trainings.
